Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. The father of Jacqueline, Elroy Fernandez is a from Sri Lanka. Jacqueline has two older brothers and a younger sister. The 80s were the time when her parents emigrated to Bahrain due to civil unrest on Sri Lanka. In the end, she was both born and raised there. She was given a scholarship to go to the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia, after completing her schooling in Bahrain. With a love of the world of languages and cultures, she joined the Berlitz school of languages which is where she began to learn Spanish as well as improve her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In 2006, she took home she won the Miss Sri Lanka title. After that, she went on television as a host of an interview show on Sri Lankan business known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father was a badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been born in Copenhagen and Bangalore. In her teens, she played in national level badminton events, but she backed off the sport and became a fashion designer. Padukone is of Mangalorean roots and is fluent in Konkani as her native language. Her lineage is from Padukone village located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the state of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. Her mother, who worked for a travel agency also comes from this village.
